Once upon a time, in a land far far away…Lives a black arachnid by the side of human village. The arachnid, despite having scary-shadowy appearance, is afraid of the giant creature he called human. Only once in a year does he is willing to show himself. On that special night, he will slowly lower down his black thread…showing his web made up on hoops. Then carefully peek his surrounding. Only on Halloween does Spidey brave enough to go down the human world. Because he thinks Halloween is darker than any other nights. That the darkness will hide him beneath its shadow. But we know better! Let’s knit Spidey’s thread & give him a way to the sun! Hello dear little shy Spidey 😉
Long long before Halloween comes, me & Nyanya has join forces in a craftday fun! The workshop was part of our new collaborative project :). It was called Sunday DIY Bash, a workshop for kids. At Sunday (10/4/12) morning, we both along with Ifa, Dita & our kids gathered at The Birdiehouse. We were originally planned to make some Halloween costume, but we know kids doesn’t like jumbling upon thread for too long. So we changed it to something more friendly. Spidey on a hoop fit best for its cute but dark feature, easily customize & moreover…easy to make.
For Spidey, we only need a hoop; thread of your choice; calico fabric; felt; embroidery needle; some furry wire (forget what its called :p); and faux-eyes accessory. First we draw Spider’s web on the fabric, snap it on the hoop, then follow the line with thread & needle. Next we just had to make Spidey of course! This is the most exiting part because kids can design his own Spidey. Anipchan himself made Spidey monster with three eyes! He keeps telling me Monster Spidey will come to my sleep at night! “Errrrgh” 😀
Now Monster Spidey hanging nicely in front of his door. Guarding his room. He’s so proud of his work at the craftday. Me too, dear! It was a lot of fun! Check Yard&Yarn‘s Flickr for more pics. See you next craftday!
