Velkooký, Velkoústý (The Man With Big Eyes and the Man With the Big Mouth)
by Jakub Faroubek
A deal. Let’s make a deal
Said the devil
“No, absolutely not,” said the man with big eyes
“Sure, let’s make a deal,” said the man with the big mouth
The man with the big mouth’s yard suddenly grew into a beautiful flower garden before his eyes
The man with big eyes was so, so poor, and so, so hungry
The man with the big mouth had fun everyday
He ate the fruit that his garden grew
And the man with the big mouth never noticed
That his flowers were withering away
Once he did notice, it was too late
In his garden that would never bloom another flower again,
the man with the big mouth opened it wide and wailed over and over
“I shouldn’t have made a deal with the devil”
The man with big eyes was so hungry he was about to die
As big tears fell out of his big eyes, he wailed
“I should have made a deal with the devil”
A deal. Let’s make a deal
Said the devil
