my favorite iphone apps

Been wanting to make this post ever since I got my hands on the gadget. But yeah..this & that :p

So here it is…divided into several categories. i’m in love with categories *hehe*

Social networks I babble on lately:

WhatsApp: $0.99 – 9.1 MB   46638 Ratings

WhatsApp is a multiplatform mobile messenger. Any Apple user can now exchange msg with android, blackberry or nokia user. Contains of what necessary like pic & video sharing, audio sharing, location, group sharing etc. You can even change its wallpaper to your liking. But what I really love about WhatsApp is that you don’t have to add any PIN Number whatsoever. Any WhatsApp user will automatically show up on your favorite list once you add their phone number to contact book. Easy 🙂

Tweetbot: $2.99 – 9.7 MB  2839 Ratings

Twitter is like the new heartthrob. Its simple feature hardly pass anyone’s attention. I’ve been Twitter for Iphone Fans since long ago, but the new app ain’t really catch my eyes. So I go for Tweetbot instead. This is another Twitter App that looks good in the eyes & have all the feature you need. Tweetbot can keep multiple account, mute anyone you don’t like without unfollowing them, translate tweet and so many other good things. If I gotta choose between Tweetbot and another twitter app out there, Tweetbot has to win.

Instagr.am: Free – 11.3 MB  7078 Ratings

Instagram is quite popular today. It combines the fun in photography and social media. Instagram is the first to introduce “follow-like-comment” feature in photographic area. Of course there are already Twitter who break through the invention, also Path & Color with similar feature. But none of them focused on photography. Indirectly, filters in instagram also created a photo trend which popular among tumblr & we heart it user. It is fun.

Path: Free – 7.4 MB 17669 Ratings

If you are keen to Facebook. In love with twitter. But find both social network to be too revealing,  then Path was made for you. Path allow you to share photo, video, location, status, and your daily activities in a timeline view, to your closest friends. When I said closest, I mean like 150 friends in exact. This way, you can assure that only people who care about you can browse through your life. Yup there is filter in Facebook, but its not the same. Path is more private. Thus, I love this.

Pinterest: 4.0 MB  98903 Ratings

Pinterest is like heaven for DIY-ers. Also for anyone with passion for design. Pinterest collect pictures you find inside the web, Pin it to your Pinboard, label it, and share it with another Pin-ers around the globe. You can also Like another Pin-er entry, upload your own, and browse through it again on your spare time. Just remember there is always a Pin-etiquette especially when it comes to copyrighted items 🙂

Hootsuite: Free – 9.7 MB  12262 Ratings

Err..Nope, I don’t add it because of the owl…although I gotta admit, he’s cute~ :p. Hootsuite is practical if you like to keep all your social networks in one place, organized. But quite consuming when you don’t have too many good connection like I do. Nevertheless, I like it as much as I like echofon. Hootsuite is organized, you can make scheduled post, keep search record, adding many many social network account and ask anyone else to join in yours. It’s quite usable especially for brand product etc.

Viber: Free- 12.7 MB 152 Ratings

Viber is undoubtedly the best moneysaver app. Viber based its service on VOIP so it really is depend on your network connection. When you don’t have wifi or good 3G, forget about using Viber. But if you are, welcome to phonecall heaven. Viber search your contact automatically & if you call someone who had Viber installed, it will automatically direct your phone call to Viber. Nice eh?

Echofon FB: Free – 1.5 MB  5867 Ratings

I have two Facebook account. One is for my son. And since Facebook for Iphone doesn’t suppport multiple account, all I can do is try to get 3rd party app that fills the gap. After few option trials, I found Echofon for FB the best app so far. It is easy, UI is nice, and loading time also friendly. One thing, Echofon for FB needs to re-gain access from FB API eveytime it’s open. The only minus point. Will keep it for a long time 🙂

Tasterous: Free – 6.9 MB

Tasterous gathered all food related information. By all food related, I mean restaurant, cafe, and such location, rating to any review made by another Tasterous user. It is actually like foursquare but with detailed information. Very useful if you happen to wander around restaurant like I did :). This and Foodspotting are two worth having app for foodies, I would say.

WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger  – Just gotta have it 🙂

Another useful apps:

Listenr: Free – 0.9 MB  26 Ratings

Listenr will gather all audio posts within tumblr you follow and make a playlist out of it. For example, I have a tumblr account called 30 songs. I integrated it with Listenr. This app will then automatically search for any audio post within my tumblr & any tumblrs I follow, along with any information related to it. Listenr audio player also feature play-in-background function like itunes. I like it so much. It a nice pair to my 30 Songs tumblr 🙂

Qamardeen + iQuran Lite: Both Free – 1.7 MB & 284 MB

This two is my routine app. I love how Qamardeen record my pray activity, mostly because I can review it and try to improve. We can even record our monthly excuses (if you know what I mean 😉 ). Qamardeen, in pair with iQuran can also save our last Surah reading, making it easier to postponed & continue reading Quran anywhere, anytime. Both Qamardeen & iQuran make a good couple for my iPhone. Add it with Islamic Compass, and you had nothing to worry about wherever you go 🙂

Movreak: Free – 6.4 MB

If you live in Indonesia, a movie fan & prefer going to theater over DVD….You gotta have Movreak! Movreak record all movie schedule in most of big city’s theater. It is integrated to FB, Twitter & other social networks for easy sharing. In Movreak, you can login to add your own review, read others, create a watching list, update your social network status & check in any location to tell your friends what you’re watching. It even includes event near you. Sounds good already rite?

9gag Reader: 0.6 MB

9gag Reader is a must! Whether you’re fellow gag-ers or not, having this in your iPhone will def blown your boring time away. This app is basically showing newest and most popular gags on your screen. It’s easily navigate and simple. So if you find an hour free or so, this app is the only app you’ll need to kill it. Seriously. If you ever visit 9gag.com, you’ll def know what I mean. But if you have such a wonderful life, don’t open it! 9Gag may ruin your life haha *just kidding*

TuneIn Radio: Free – 13.2 MB   20880 Ratings

TuneIn Radio is the best radio app for Iphone I’ve ever encounter. TuneIn bookmarks your fav radio stations around the world. Recommend radio by calculating your fav station, and record your fav tunes. TuneIn also feature a list of radio categories, with an I Tunes lookalike view. You can also choose station by location or language. Great great 🙂

Springpad: Free – 6.4 MB  28 Ratings

Springpad is like a cloud bookmark. I usually clip any pages I want, add a note or simply save a link to Springpad, label it, organize, and the bookmark will then shared between my gadgets. Very simple and unquestionably useful. Recently, Pocket (formerly known as “Read it Later”) also add bookmark-sharing function. so it’s worth checking too 🙂

Bump: Free – 8.2 MB  310797 Ratings

Bump easily share file between Apple devices. Don’t ask me how important it is because Bump def make everything easier. With Bump, all you gotta do first is bump-ing both your devices. Then the device will recognize each other. Just like pairing through bluetooth. Only Bump do it in a fun way. Oya, other than sharing files..Bump also include chat feature & social network feature where you will able to send your account information and ask your bump-buddies to connect with you. 🙂

Komik Connect: Free – 7.3 MB  80 Ratings

If you like manga as much as I do, then Komik Connect def the one for you. The free version can bookmark up to 5 mangas while upgraded one has no limit to how many manga you can follow. KC directory save more than 1000 mangas online. KC will also send a notification to your phone if there is a new chapter from your bookmarked manga. But what I love the most about KC is that when you stream manga to read then something comes up & you had to close the application, your streamed chapter stays within the app. Meaning you don’t have to download it again. Brilliant!

iScrob: Free – 1.4 MB  282 Ratings

iScrob usually paired with your last.fm account. When you play any song using the app, the song will be shared to your account. This way, you don’t have to listen to any song from last.fm again (you know how irritating those listen-limitation on last.fm dontcha?). So nothing else to say, I just love how iScrob keep my last.fm account alive after i used up all of my free listening limit  🙂

The only turn point is maybe that iScrob only play your saved tunes. In other words, there is no “search the web” feature available, which I think would make it perfect..

Flipboard: Free – 8.7 MB  118870 Ratings

Flipboard is the coolest iPhone app I have ever found! And if this doesn’t convince you yet, just check Flipboard five stars rating on Apple Application Store. I gotta say they def worth it. Flipboard make your regular social network looks wonderful. And I don’t think I need to say more. Just check this clever, cool, good-looking app..
ASAP 😉

Agoda, Blue Bird: Both Free – 3.4 MB & 2.1 MB

Fellow traveller, welcome to Agoda & Bluebird. Your number one travel apps (other than G-Maps of course :p). Both let you book a nice hotel room & taxi. Sadly, Bluebird only available in Jakarta area for now, but hopefully another cities will follow this year. Hopefully 🙂

I think that is all for now…There must be tons of wonderful apps out there, would love to hear another suggestion 🙂
